选择性必修3 Unit2 Reading  Life on a space station

Teaching objectives:

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1. know the basic information of living on a space station.

2. appreciate the good qualities of great astronauts.

3. cultivate a positive attitude towards living on a space station.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Lead-in

1. Show the students a video clip of the space traveling, and ask students if they are offered the opportunity to live on a space station for free, will they take it?

2. Ask students about what they have known or want to know about life on a space station.

Step 2 Fast Reading

1. Have students read the lecture quickly and underline the things astronauts do on a space station.

2. Guide students to conclude the main information of each paragraph and divide these aspects into two parts: during work time and during free time.

Step 3 Detailed Reading

1. Have students work in groups and ask one or two questions based on one paragraph. (Write the queations on the blackboard.)

2. Answer the questions raised by other groups.

(Teacher shows the pictures and vedios of sleeping, working, eating, exercising and leisure activities on a space station to help students answer these questions.)

Step 4 Post Reading

1.  Ask students to think about the following  questions:

(1) What dangers will astronauts meet during their work time? What challenges will astronauts meet during their free time?

(2) In order to deal with these dangers and challenges, what qualities should these astronauts be equipped with?

2. (Free talk) Ask students to find the potential of being an astronaut in themselves, and use the following sentence pattern: I believe I can be an astronaut because I am ... For example, ...

2. Homework

假如你是一名宇航员,你想邀请同学一起去探索太空。请为他们写一份太空生活指南。

 注意:写作词数应为80左右
